What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves relaxing in a pressurised chamber while breathing oxygen. As pressure increases, oxygen can dissolve more efficiently and become more available throughout the body.

At Kubo Wellness, HBOT is delivered as a calm, non-invasive session. Most people simply settle into the chamber and relax for the duration, whether using it occasionally or as part of a more structured plan.

How HBOT works

HBOT uses pressure to help oxygen become more available throughout the body, creating the conditions for deeper recovery, repair and broader physiological support.

Pressure increases oxygen delivery

Inside the chamber, air pressure is gently increased so oxygen can dissolve more efficiently, circulate more widely and become more available throughout the body.

More oxygen reaches body tissues

With more oxygen available at tissue level, cells can produce energy more efficiently and better support the functions needed for healthy activity, balance, and ongoing repair.

Recovery and repair are better supported

That increased cellular energy supports repair, resilience and physical recovery, while also strengthening physiological functions and processes over time.

Who Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is best suited to

HBOT can support a wide range of goals, from deeper recovery and healing to resilience, cognitive wellbeing and longer-term health. It is particularly valuable for people looking for a more immersive therapy with broader physiological reach.

Healing and restoration as a priority

A strong fit where tissue repair, deeper restoration or more substantial recovery support are central to the goal.

Heavier physical workload or strain

Often chosen by athletes and active individuals, as well as during periods of greater physical demand, heavier training loads or more sustained strain.

Cognitive support, mental clarity and sleep

HBOT may also appeal where brain health, mental clarity, resilience or better sleep are part of a wider recovery picture.

Broader physiological support over time

It is also well suited to people looking beyond immediate recovery, with an interest in longer-term vitality, healthy ageing and overall physiological resilience.

Session formats

At Kubo Wellness, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is offered in two core session lengths, with additional flexibility where needed. Most people choose either 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the level of support they are seeking.

60-minute sessions

This format works well for people looking to incorporate HBOT into a broader recovery or wellbeing routine in a practical and manageable way. It can be a strong option for regular use, general resilience and more accessible ongoing support across a wide range of goals.

90-minute sessions

This longer format is often chosen where deeper support or a more immersive HBOT session is preferred. It can work especially well for people seeking a fuller experience, including more substantial recovery, healing, or broader neurological and cognitive support.

Alongside our core formats, HBOT can also be arranged more flexibly where appropriate, including shared use of the chamber, introductory appointments on request, and HBOT-40 for those seeking a more structured course of sessions.

  • Available for one or two occupants, where appropriate
  • Introductory appointments available on request
  • HBOT-40 available for those seeking a structured plan

Can HBOT be combined with other therapies?

Yes. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a powerful therapy in its own right, and for some goals it works well as a standalone session. Others choose to combine it with additional therapies to create a broader recovery or wellbeing approach.

Used on its own

For some people, HBOT is a strong standalone option, including where the aim is deeper recovery, healing, resilience, brain health, longevity support or a more immersive full-body session.

Used as part of a wider approach

Others combine it with therapies such as PEMF or Red Light Therapy, either by alternating sessions, layering support over time, or choosing a more structured option such as the Superhuman Protocol.

If you are unsure how HBOT might fit into a wider plan, we can help guide the most suitable approach for your goals.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy FAQs

If you are new to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, these questions cover some of the most common things people want to understand before booking.

Most people start with 60 minutes, especially when they are new to HBOT or looking to build it into a broader recovery or wellbeing routine. The 90-minute format is often chosen by people seeking a deeper, more immersive session or a greater level of support, including those dealing with more substantial recovery needs, illness or longer-term conditions.

Most people find HBOT comfortable and relaxing once they are settled in. As the chamber pressurises, you may notice a feeling in the ears similar to a change in altitude, but this usually passes quickly. We guide you through the process and can talk through any questions before your session.

Most people use the chamber on their own, as it tends to feel more comfortable and relaxing that way. It can also be shared, usually by two people who already know each other well, as it is a relatively close fit. In some cases, a parent or carer may simply accompany someone who would not otherwise feel comfortable using the chamber alone, without any additional charge.

That depends very much on the goal. Some people use HBOT occasionally for broader recovery, resilience or wellbeing, while others choose a more regular block of sessions when they want to work more intentionally on healing and longer-term change. It is also common to begin with a more focused run, then move into maintenance with less frequent visits. If you are unsure, we can help guide you.

HBOT-40 is our structured plan of 40 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy sessions. That number is not arbitrary: many clinical protocols use around 40 sessions, and longer courses at that level are where more meaningful physiological changes are often discussed, including angiogenesis, neuroplasticity and improved mitochondrial function. HBOT-40 gives that process a clearer structure, though a similar rhythm can also be built more flexibly through single sessions, packages or memberships.
